Dr. J. M. Givens Jr. (Jay) is Professor of Theological Studies and Director of Online Christian Studies Programs for the School of Christian Studies at Wayland Baptist University. He first joined Wayland in 2000, teaching religion courses at the Hawaii Campus. In 2003, he became Coordinator of Religion Programs for the Lubbock, Texas Campus. From 2007-11, he was Executive Director and Dean of the Altus, Oklahoma Campus, overseeing teaching sites at Altus AFB, Ft. Sill, and Vance AFB, before moving to his current position.

Wayland provides traditional programs at its Plainview, Texas Campus, and non-traditional programs at 9 external campuses in 6 states and online.  Undergraduate and graduate degrees are available through the School of Christian Studies.
